Abraham Benjamin de Villiers was born on 17th February 1984 in Warmbad, a town situated near the Limpopo region of South Africa. His father Dr Abraham deVillers and mother Millie were both very supportive about sports which led to their youngest son excelling at many different types including golf, rugby swimming tennis among others .

His Father was a doctor who played rugby as an undergraduate. He encouraged his son to be active and join sports teams because he knew how important it is for mental health, especially in children.
The motivation behind this passage comes from Abraham’s father being involved with the game at one time himself. In addition he also studied at Afrikaans Boys High School where cricket took up most time during his school days.

AB de Villiers was a skilled athlete in several sports, but he finally decided to pursue cricket when 2003.
